Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College (Autonomous), Sivakasi, established in 1963, in the industrial town of Sivakasi, popularly known as “Little Japan” in Tamil Nadu, is a standing testimony to the wisdom and foresight of late Thiru P. Ayya Nadar, a leading businessman and pioneering industrialist of this corporation. As the institution was established by his munificence, the college was fittingly named after him and his equally generous wife, Thirumathi A. Janaki Ammal. The college has been serving as a beacon light in the backward area of Virudhunagar District, emphasizing teaching, learning and research programmes in different disciplines for the benefit of thousands of rural students who pursue higher education. Today, Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College is reckoned as one of the leading educational research institutions in India with diversified courses, excellent infrastructure, competent faculty & very promising students. The College is re-accredited (4th Cycle) with ‘A+’ Grade (CGPA 3.48 out of 4.0) and recognized by UGC as College of Excellence. Apart from academic activities the college is also serving the society through its own various service channels and departments.

About the Department
Department of Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics was established in 1963, the year of the inception of the Institution, offered P.U.C initially. The Department has registered a steady growth with the Institution. The Department is offering B.Sc. Degree programme from 1964, M.Sc. Degree programme from 1975 and M.Phil. Degree Programme from 1986. The Department has been upgraded as a research centre offering Ph.D. programme since August 1992 and it is enriched with 12 Faculty members among which 9 are doctorate holders. The thriving areas of research are Graph Theory, Linear Algebra, Topology, Geometric function Theory, Control Theory and Number Theory. It is noteworthy to mention that the Department has produced more than 2000 graduates, 850 post graduates and 450 M.Phil graduates. It also has produced 29 Ph.D. scholars. At present 6 scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. programme. To add feather to its cap, various funded programmes were received by the Department.
